Weddings are meant to be a celebration of love, commitment, and everything that makes a couple uniquely them. But unfortunately, many people still feel the pressure to change who they are—particularly when it comes to their bodies—before they say “I do.”

At Keshira Creative Events, I’ve seen first-hand how damaging and unnecessary this pressure can be. From unsolicited diet advice to weight loss product stands at wedding fairs, it’s time to challenge the idea that you need to lose weight to be “wedding ready.” Spoiler: you don’t.

The Pressure to Shrink

Recently, two of my amazing clients shared stories about being told they should “watch their weight” when seen enjoying food—just because they’re getting married. Let’s be clear: food is fuel, joy, and culture. No one should be shamed for eating, especially not while planning one of the most exciting (and sometimes stressful) days of their life.

If you want to change your body for you—great. But if you’re doing it because someone told you that you “should,” it’s worth questioning who that change really serves. Your partner loves you as you are, and your wedding should reflect that.

Old Traditions, New Mindsets

There are plenty of outdated traditions that don’t suit modern couples. Weight loss isn’t the only one. Think about these:

  • Wearing white because it “symbolises purity”

  • Asking a father for permission before proposing

  • Brides not giving speeches (why not?!)

  • Only one partner doing all the planning

We’ve evolved as people—so let’s evolve the way we get married too.

Be Unapologetically You

At Keshira Creative Events, I champion couples being themselves, not some curated version of perfection. Let your wedding reflect your values, body, style, and vibe. Your love story is more than a dress size or a diet plan.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by expectations, you’re not alone—and I’m here to help. Book a free consultation to talk things through, feel supported, and plan a day that celebrates who you really are. No crash diets required.
