If you’re starting to plan your wedding and wondering, “How do wedding planners charge for their services?” — you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common questions couples ask when considering whether to hire a wedding planner. Let’s break it down in plain English so you know what to expect and what works best for your needs (and budget!).
The Main Ways Wedding Planners Charge
There are a few standard pricing models that most wedding planners use, including:
1. Flat Fee / Fixed Package
This is the most common pricing structure. You’ll be given a clear cost upfront for a set level of service — whether that’s full planning, partial planning, or on-the-day coordination. This works well if you want to know exactly what you’re spending from the beginning. At Keshira Creative Events, we offer exactly these packages as a starting point.
2. Percentage of Budget
Some planners charge a percentage of your total wedding budget — usually between 10–15%. This reflects the scale and complexity of the event, but can feel less predictable if your budget changes as you go.
We move over to this style of pricing for our full planning package if your budget exceeds £35,000 for the wedding day itself. Within this, I will only have count parts of your day and planning which I directly work with so, for example, I do not include your outfits or rings here as that’s all on you to plan those bits!
3. Hourly Rate
For ad hoc support or one-off consultations, some planners offer hourly rates. This is great for couples who need help with specific tasks like timeline planning, budget breakdowns or supplier recommendations.
What’s Included?
What you get for your money varies, but typically includes supplier sourcing, budget management, timeline creation, styling, admin, troubleshooting, and on-the-day coordination. You’re paying for expertise, stress relief, and time — the average wedding takes 200+ hours to plan!
