Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting journeys you’ll ever take, but it can also be one of the most overwhelming. For many couples, the question isn’t whether to hire a wedding planner, but how much does it actually cost in the UK? Understanding what you’ll get for your investment can help you make the right choice for your day.

What does a wedding planner cost?

Wedding planner fees vary depending on the level of service you need, the size and style of your wedding, and the planner’s experience. Broadly speaking, there are three main types of services:

  • Full Planning – This is the most comprehensive option. Your planner is with you from day one, helping you source suppliers, design the look and feel, manage your budget, and ensure the day runs smoothly. In the UK, this typically ranges from 10–15% of your overall wedding budget, with a minimum fee of around £2,000–£7,000 depending on location and scale.

  • Partial Planning – Ideal if you’ve already booked some suppliers but want professional support to bring it all together. Prices usually start at £800–£5,500, depending on how much is already in place.

  • On-the-Day Coordination – Sometimes called wedding day management, this ensures someone is there to set up, liaise with suppliers, and keep the day running seamlessly. Fees typically range from £900–£3,500.

Factors that affect price

  • Experience – Planners who have more years under their belt will always be more expensive; you are paying for their extensive experience and knowledge
  • Budgets – Weddings with a higher budget will need more detailed planning and will typically have more suppliers to manage and take more time
  • Guest numbers – Larger weddings require more hours of planning, coordination, and logistics.
  • Complexity – A marquee wedding or dry-hire venue often needs far more coordination than a hotel with in-house services.

Is a wedding planner worth it?

Couples often find the investment pays for itself. Planners save you time, reduce stress, negotiate with suppliers, and help avoid costly mistakes. A great planner also brings creativity to the table, offering fresh ideas and ensuring your day is a true reflection of you. As planners we are experts in our field and we can suggest the most budget-friendly or guest-focused ways to make your day stand out.

Hiring a wedding planner isn’t just about outsourcing the stress – it’s about having a trusted partner in your corner. Whether you’re dreaming of a modern city celebration, a rustic marquee in the countryside, or something totally unique, a planner can help you bring it to life while keeping things realistic and manageable. Ultimately, the value lies not only in the logistics, but in allowing you to be fully present on the day, knowing everything is in safe hands.
